AAUW Mission: advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
Preamble: The Roanoke Valley Branch promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, positive societal change, and research
Goal: AAUW of Roanoke Valley will connect with women: our members, our community and the world, to advance equity, through advocacy, education and research, for women and girls.
Objective 1: The Roanoke Valley Branch will seek to engage members with the AAUW Mission, value and retain long-term / older members, seek and attract an increasingly diverse new membership, and welcome and involve new members.
Diversity: In principle and practice AAUW Roanoke Valley Branch values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in the organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.
Objective 2: The Roanoke Valley Branch will plan and present “Mission Driven” programs / meetings, open to the community and potential members, that educate, inspire, and engage members and the community at large to that mission.
Objective 3: The Roanoke Valley Branch will plan and participate in community service projects that connect with women and girls and promote the AAUW Mission.
Objective 4: The Roanoke Valley Branch will maintain sound organizational and financial practices.
Objective 5: The Roanoke Valley Branch will continue to support and pursue the advancement of the Vision to Reality areas determined at the August 2016 meeting:
- Local Scholarships
- College/University partnerships
- NCCWSL – National Conference for College Women Student Leaders
- Get Out the Vote
